Odoo Upgrades Without the Surprises
Upgrading Odoo to a new version, such as 17, 18, or 19 to Odoo 20, is more than clicking a button. Custom modules, website customizations, and integrations all need attention. We plan the upgrade, test it on a full copy, and cut over with a way back.

What goes wrong in upgrades
Odoo's upgrade service converts your database, but it does not port your custom modules, and it does not repair website pages that were edited in the website builder. Those edited pages keep the old version's structure and can break after the upgrade, one page at a time.
We have also found that backups which look fine are often incomplete until someone actually restores one, and that a test upgrade database must never be promoted to production because it comes back with email, scheduled jobs, and payments switched off.
Our approach
We have done this on our own system
We ran the same process on our own production Odoo, upgrading from 18 to 19, including custom modules for check printing, a licensed web shop, and estimates. The lessons from that upgrade are built into how we work.
Every upgrade starts with a backup we have actually restored, and ends with a cutover plan that includes a tested way back.
How it works
Our upgrade process
Verify backups
We take a full backup and prove it by restoring it, before anything else.
Test upgrade
A copy of your database is upgraded and run side by side with production.
Port and repair
Custom modules are ported to the new version and broken website pages are repaired.
Validate
Your team tests real workflows on the upgraded copy while integrations are checked.
Cut over
Production is upgraded with a documented rollback plan ready if needed.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Which versions can you upgrade?
We upgrade to Odoo 19 and Odoo 20, including moving older databases forward several versions to the current release.
Will our custom modules still work?
Not without porting. Odoo changes its internals between versions, so custom modules need code changes. We port them and test them on the upgraded copy before cutover.
How much downtime should we expect?
The final cutover is usually a short planned window, often outside business hours. All of the risky work happens beforehand on a test copy.
Do you sell Odoo licenses?
No. We are an independent implementer focused on installation, upgrades, customization, and support, and are not affiliated with Odoo S.A.
